HVAC Equipment Now on Solid Footing Thanks to Jones Metal Products, Inc. Design Input

Situation
Situation:
A leading manufacturer of industrial HVAC equipment came to Jones Metal Products, Inc. for bases for their large, custom air handling units. The base is the structure upon which the rest of the unit is constructed. These bases are built from both stainless and carbon steel. Some are painted and some are powder coated. All are quite large - as long as 30 feet and as wide as 12 feet. Handling, coating and transporting the bases is very difficult, cumbersome, and costly due to the sheer size. Solution
Solution:

The Jones Metal Products, Inc. Account Manager, working with the client's engineering people, developed a new base design that eliminated welding and thus the many problems and costs that resulted from having to work with these large, unwieldy weldments. Instead of welds, the new design employed Huck® fasteners. In this way, the base components could be cut, formed, coated and delivered directly to the customer's assembly area. Result

Result:
The base components now flow directly into the customer's assembly process and are easily handled by the assemblers. The resulting base is structurally more robust than the previously welded design. The customer benefits from lower cost, shorter lead-times an improved product and better margins.
